What is vig? Vig (or juice) is the margin a sportsbook builds into a line. A standard -110/-110 market carries about 4.5% vig. Sharp, low-margin books run 2–3%. The lower the vig, the better price you're getting. When you find odds that are better than the no-vig (or "fair") odds, you're placing a positive expected value bet — one that's mathematically profitable over time.
Enter the American odds for both sides of a two-way market. The calculator returns the total vig percentage so you can compare the same market across books and find who's offering the best odds and potential positive expected value opportunities.
Each side is converted to implied probability, then summed. Vig = sum − 100%. Example: −110 / −110 → 110/210 = 52.38% per side. Sum = 104.76%, so vig = 4.76%. A sharper line like −105 / −105 → 51.22% per side. Sum = 102.44%, vig = 2.44%.
